How is history written, and which history? For “Komplizen” at the Kunstraum Engländerbau in Vaduz in 2017, the artist Anna Hilti formed a trio with the historian Toni Büchel and the architect Luis Hilti. They proposed new monuments for the emigration driven by poverty before the economic boom. Luis Hilti modelled the timber structure on the steerage deck that carried emigrants to America. A workshop produced over 20 proposals, and no monument was built.
