Schaan, Liechtenstein, 2021

For Christmas 2021 we gave a moment of rest at one of our favourite spots above the Rhine valley. At Brandeck, on the path from Schaan to the Alpila hut, a small bench had fallen apart. We made a new one from solid wood, a two-part ring that closes around a tree trunk without drilling or screwing. We fitted it on 14 December 2021, and other hikers have since repaired and replaced it.
