Low-stimulus Architecture
Liechtenstein, 2025–2026
How can a room help residents calm down without medication? For residents of the Heilpädagogisches Zentrum des Fürstentums Liechtenstein (HPZ) who require intensive support, we studied low-stimulus architecture. Drawing on research into views, noise, light and the sensory profile in autism, we proposed three zones: a low-stimulus room controlled by the residents, a room for sensory modulation where they can calm down without medication, and a transition space. We presented the study to the HPZ in 2026. The project did not go ahead.
