Studio Postfossil Neighbourhoods I

Widnau and Au, Switzerland, 2023

What does the target of net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 mean for an existing neighbourhood like the Nefenfeld in Widnau and Au? In autumn 2023 the Advanced Studio Landscape “Postfossil Neighbourhoods” at the University of Liechtenstein took up this question, together with landscape architecture students from OST. A seminar week took the students to Zurich. Their scenarios bring together energy, mobility, climate adaptation and public space. The project “The Caradigm Shift” replaces the car-based road grid with a network for walking and cycling.
