INFORMATION DEFORMATION
YEAR | 2018
LOCATION | Berlin

The research project Information Deformation, conducted during the artist residency of Atelier Liechtenstein in Berlin in 2018, explored the intersection of physical landscapes, statistical data, and digital modeling.
The aim was to use familiar spatial entities—such as the Liechtenstein landscape—and enrich them with new, often unconventional information to provoke fresh perspectives and narratives.
At the core of the project was the digital modeling of the Liechtenstein landscape. The process involved creating a highly detailed and flexible model capable of accommodating various data overlays.
The initial focus was to represent the landscape from unconventional perspectives: in axonometric views, sectional slices, or isolating specific regions to highlight fragmentation.
Beyond traditional cartography, the project sought to distort and reinterpret the landscape by introducing new parameters, such as mapping municipalities based on wealth instead of altitude. These transformations were intended to create hybrid spaces that blend familiarity with novelty.
The project’s primary goal was to draw attention to the dynamics of landscape change and to create tools for discussing these transformations. The balance of known and unknown elements aimed to spark curiosity and reflection on societal structures.
